Wizkid has been in the news in recent times, not because of something he did, but because he has been under ‘attack.’
Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale had said in a recent interview that he doesn’t consider Wizkid to be a superstar. He also said he was bigger than Wizkid while also asking other Ghanaian musicians to stop considering themselves inferior to Nigerian musicians.
Surprisingly, Nigerian musician Dammy Krane also supported Shatta Wale saying he doesn’t believe fake hype, a post directly aimed at Wizkid.
All this haven’t affected the Starboy CEO one bit as he recently released a new song he titled Manya. Coincidentally, this song has strong Ghanaian influences and it also features Mutay one half of producer duo Legendury Beatz.
The chorus has a direct resemblance to Ahomka Womu, a song released by Ghanaian group VIP in 2007, 10 years ago. VIP have since changed their name to VVIP.
Wizkid does a good job of combining their style with his signature Nigerian sound. Listen to the Killertunes produced song below:
