Reactions have started pouring in after veteran actor Pete Edochie greeted the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi in the Igbo traditional way at the birthday dinner of socialite Elizabeth Jack-Rich.
The birthday dinner was held in Lagos earlier this week. A number of singers performed at the dinner including Flavour Na’bania.
In videos which have since gone viral, Pete, 76, walks into the venue of the dinner accompanied by his younger colleague, Kanayo O. Kanayo. They both walk toward the Ooni and greet him with the traditional shake of hands among chiefs in Igboland.
Some netizens believe Pete and Kanayo ought to have bowed to the Ooni, a first-class monarch, in the traditional Yoruba way. Others think it was not necessary. See video and reactions below:
