The Nigerian film industry seems to be loosing ta lot of talented hands of late. News reaching us reveals that veteran Nigerian film director and producer, Paul Emema has passed on at the age of 52.
According to reports, he died on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, after a brief illness. The news of his death was made known by his bosom friend, Francis Onwochei, on March 14 who said; “I heard about the death on Wednesday. I received a call from his long-time business development officer, I called our mutual friend and we both visited his house last night at Ago Palace Way Okota.”
Emema is best known for producing the NTA series Behind the Clouds and Supple Blues. He also produced the biopic on Reverend Father Tansi starring Jude Orhorha and Francis Onwochei. He also produced the popular NTA series, Need To Know which starred Funke Akindele among many others.
Emema was a member of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Independent Television Practitioners Association of Nigeria (ITPAN) and Advertisers Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) among others.
Up until his death, he was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Visual Network Limited.
He is survived by his wife, an 11-year-old son and father said to be over 100 years old. Burial announcement will be announced by his family.
Just a while ago, the Nigerian film industry creatives mourned the loss of one of their own, Osang Abang. The University of Calabar graduate who worked as a scriptwriter for Mnet’s Tinsel died in a bus accident, on Thursday, February 7, and was buried on February 11.
