England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed which of Jordan Pickford or Jack Butland will feature in goal for the friendly with Holland.
With both Butland and Pickford fighting each other for a starting spot in the World Cup XI, the latter has been given his chance to shine.
Pickford has been impressive for Everton this season, with his distribution also being important to the Toffees despite their poor season.
While Pickford has been a shining light for a lacklustre Everton side this season, Butland has been equally impressive for Stoke in their relegation battle.
Although he made a big mistake against Leicester in the Premier League, he has made several world-class saves this campaign.
Now, Gareth Southgate has a very big decision to make ahead of the world cup.
Though, the England boss will be given the chance to see how Pickford does on the big stage when they face off against the Netherlands on Friday.
Speaking on Pickford, Southgate was pretty complimentary about the player but made it sure that only a big performance will give him ‘food for thought’.
“He is very agile, quick around his goal and capable of making big saves,’ Southgate explained.
“His distribution is excellent which is a key part of how we want to play.
“If he does well tomorrow he gives himself a huge boost and gives us food for thought.”
Pickford will start tomorrow: “He is very agile, quick around his goal and capable of making big saves. His distribution is excellent which is a key part of how we want to play. If he does well tomorrow he gives himself a huge boost and gives us food for thought.” #EFC #ENG
