Chelsea are monitoring Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation at Arsenal with the player yet to sign a new deal with the club, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old has just one-year remaining on his current contract and his situation at the Emirates remains unclear.

Chelsea are looking to overhaul their squad in the summer, following a disappointing season and are alert to the possibility of signing yet another Arsenal player.

With his current contract running down and no new deal currently being lined up, the Blues are alert to the Welsh international’s situation.

Arsenal are hoping to get Ramsey to sign a new contract in North London, but are yet to have made the player an offer.

Chelsea are unlikely to succeed in their attempts to sign the midfielder though, with Arsene Wenger more than reluctant to lose yet another key member of his squad to a rival.

Speaking about the situation, Ramsey told BT Sport:

“Nothing to comment on at the moment

“I think they’ve been busy to tie up other contracts at the moment.”

Arsene Wenger’s side comfortably reached their first European quarter-final since 2010 as they saw off AC Milan at the Emirates in the Europa League.

Goals from Danny Welbeck and Granit Xhaka helped them to dispatch of the Italians who struggled to find a way back into the tie following last week’s 2-0 defeat at the San Siro.

Hakan Calhanoglu looked to have found Milan’s route back into the tie as his long-range strike managed to beat David Ospina to gain his side a crucial away goal.

However, just moments later, in a hugely controversial incident, Welbeck was awarded a penalty after Ricardo Rodriguez was adjudged to have brought down the England forward in the box.

Welbeck, who was today recalled to the England squad, stepped up and dispatched from 12-yards to restore Arsenal’s two-goal lead in the tie.

In the second-half, Xhaka’s speculative effort somehow found it’s way past Gianluigi Donnarumma with the ball creeping past the 19-year-old in a calamitous moment.

Welbeck rounded off the tie with his second of the evening, as he converted on the follow up following Ramsey’s effort.
