Following the massive gun battle that broke out in Bori, Rivers state earlier on Tuesday, February 23, 9 people have been reported killed.
The battle was between soldiers and militants suspected to be supporters of the ex-militant leader, Solomon Ndigbara popularly known as SOLO.
The campaign office of Senator Magnus Abe in Bori, Gokhana local government area of the state was reportedly set on fire by supporters of the ex-militant leader, popularly known as General Osama Bin Laden. It is alleged that the senator is the one instigating the military against SOLO.
Some other people were reportedly killed in Yeghe community by the army.
Bori became very restless today as the men of the Nigerian Army started shooting sporadically, aiming directly at innocent civilians. It was reported that armed youth killed some military personnel on Monday, February 22, so the army retaliated.
A young okada man was shot dead by men of the Nigerian Army with two other women who later died in the hospital.

In a another development, the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has confirmed that the military operations in Gokana and Khana local government areas have the full backing of the Rivers state government and has therefore called on fleeing residents in the affected areas to return their homes.
Wike in a press statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, his Special Assistant Electronic Media called on all residents of Khana and Gokana local government areas who fled their homes as a result of military presence in the area to return to their homes.
