As the budget padding scandal rocks Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, on Sunday, July 31, released pictures of one of Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s guest houses, Premium Times reports.
This is the latest in a series of damning revelations by Jibrin since his dismissal from the leadership of the Appropriation Committee early this month.
The Kano State-born lawmaker claims the guest house located at Vistula Close, along Panama Crescent, in the exquisite Maitama neighbourhood in Abuja belongs to the Speaker.
The ousted chairman the House Committee on Appropriation had repeatedly said in his allegations that Dogara allegedly looted funds meant for legislative duties to furnish his guest houses and other apartments being personally used by him.

Meanwhile, Jibrin, who has indicted Dogara of being behind the budget padding has accused the embattled speaker of bribing nine appropriation committee members in with $20,000 each to organize a phony press conference.
In a statement on Friday, July 29, he alleged that the $20,000 bribe was distributed to the committee members two days ago at the speaker’s residence by his deputy chief of staff, Hon CID Maduabum.
He queried why Dagara has failed to respond to the 25 allegations he leveled against him and others, adding that the speaker has rather chosen to use legal gimmicks to stall the allegations. Jibrin described all the accusations the members leveled against him at the press conference as bunch of lies sponsored by Dogara.
