Following Kunle Afolayan‘s tirade on Twitter against pirates who he said are threatening to release pirated copies of his award winning movie, October 1, a popular film distributor, Igwe Gabosky has backed the actor and producer.
Gabosky, an influential film distributor in Nigeria who is an Igbo man himself, has backed the film maker, even if some view his manner of calling out pirates on Twitter as an attack on Igbos.
Speaking at a press conference today, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Regent Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Gabosky displayed some already reproduced copies of Kunle Afolayan’s movie, Phone Swap. Going further, he confirmed that October 1 is being targeted as well while seriously lamenting the incalculable financial damages that pirating such works cause movie producers.
Phone Swap, directed and produced by Kunle like October 1, is a 2012 Nigerian romantic comedy written by Kemi Adesoye.
