Give us Back our Money – PDP Aspirants Tell Party

Trouble is brewing in the Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a group of members under the group name, PDP Aggrieved Aspirants Forum, has threatened to sue the party in court, Premium Times reports.

Their grouse with the out-going ruling party is that the PDP according to them, have refused to  refund the money they used in purchasing the forms for the party’s primary elections before the gubernatorial contest in the state before the just concluded general elections.

The aspirants who addressed journalists in Yola today, claimed that the party had advertised for various elective positions but didn’t to conduct the primaries.

Chairman of the group, Liazaru Eliada-Gugu said,

“We the aggrieved PDP aspirants bought forms to contest the primary election and since they did not conduct any primary election, it is only natural for them to return our money.

“We have made our request known to the leadership of our party both at the state and national level. They have promised to address the issue but up till now they have not done anything.

“When we met the national leader of the party and the national chairman of the party, they agreed to do something about us and we were satisfied with that meeting. But after several weeks of waiting without response we are left with no other option than to take our case to court.”

According to Daily Independent, Eliada-Gugu who was a senatorial aspirant in the election, opined that since the party did not conduct any primary election, it was only natural that their monies be refunded to them.

Meanwhile, a former PDP  governorship candidate in Imo state, Senator IfeanyiAraraume has accused the party of having no respect for democracy in Nigeria.
